Creative Media Competition: Conditions of Entry

Overall

  1. Participating in the competition means a confirmation that the participant read all rules and regulations prior to submitting any Enteries. Participating is considered an official agreement to all rules and regulations.
  2. Participants can only enter at ourabudhabi.ae/adtye using the online submissions system.
  3. Participants entering the photography and film categories must be over the age of 14 to enter. Participants attempting to enter the photography and film categories under the age of 14 will be disqualified.
  4. Participants entering outside the UAE must be 18+.
  5. Participants must create only one registration profile. Participants with multiple profiles will be disqualified.
  6. Incomplete submission forms or absence of required information may disqualify the Entry.
  7. The photography and film categories are open to UAE citizens, residents and visitors. The Student Art category is exclusive for students studying at Universities and Schools inside or outside the UAE.
  8. Participation in the competition is the Participant’s sole responsibility.
  9. Entries must be submitted by 18.00 UAE local time (ie. GMT +4) on 13th May 2018. Late Entries will not be accepted.
  10. All Enteries in the competition will be reviewed to ensure the compliance with all rules and regulations.
  11. Shortlisted entries will be notified by phone or email. For winning and shortlisted entries, participants will receive notification to confirm the intellectual property in exchange for the associated prize.
  12. For non-selected Entries, Participants will receive notification to confirm that the intellectual property of Entries will not be reserved under ADTYE.
  13. All Entries must be submitted as a digital file of sufficient size and resolution for the Judges to assess.
  14. Submitted Entries must be the original work of the Participant and must not have been previously published. Any Entry that is proven to infringe on copyright laws either through theft or plagiarism will be disqualified and the participant is susceptible to legal questioning.
  15. All Entries must be taken in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
  16. Entries which present offensive or inappropriate content may be disquailified. The decision to disqualify an entry lies soley at the discretion of ADTYE.
  17. All Participants must refrain from taking photographs/ videos/ film footage of military bases or any unauthorised photography area in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
  18. All Participants submitting an Entry agree to provide ADTYE the right to use their entry for promotional purposes on Our Abu Dhabi website and Our Abu Dhabi social media. By submitting their Entry, Participants automatically agree to this term. The Participant retains the intellectual property of the image. To participate in the competition you must provide us with open, unconditional consent to copy, paste, publish, edit, transfer, enhance, translate, or reconfigure the Entries and produce it as content that relates to Abu Dhabi
  19. Participants must have permission from those appearing in their film submission. Participants may be asked to provide a model release form in order to confirm they have permission from those appearing in their entry.
  20. Any commercial entities wishing to use non-selected Entries for commercial purposes will negotiate a separate usage fee directly with Participants (through ADTYE).
  21. All decisions on the shortlist and winners are at the complete discretion of ADTYE any decisions made by ADTYE are final.
  22. ADTYE retains the right to delete, extend, enhance, or change any of the rules and regulations of the competition without the prior notification of any participants. Please note that any changes will be reflected on the website ourabudhabi.ae and will be communicated through our various tools.
  23. ADTYE maintains the right to publish any information submitted within the form at any point or phase of the competition for promotional purposes.
  24. ADTYE will take responsibility of producing the promotional content and creative presentations of the entries. By submitting their Entry, Participants automatically agree to this term.
  25. To participate in the competition you allow ourabudhabi.ae to publish your Entry on the website or any media portal available now or in the future, including but not limited to phone applications, television, or radio. Participants agree to utilizing the Entries within the framework of the promotional activities of the competition, including advertisements and paid content.
  26. ADTYE will not take any responsibility for any financial, emotional or other type of loss that comes as a result of participating in the competition.

Photography category

  1. Submitted Entries must be the original work of the Participant and must not have been previously published. Any Entries which are previously published may be disqualified.
  2. Participants can submit a maximum of 4 photographs across 6 categories.
  3. The photography Student category is open to Participants based in the UAE and Internationally.
  4. Participants entering Student category may be asked to submit proof of their attendance at school, college or University.
  5. All Entries must be submitted as a digital file of sufficient size and resolution for the Judges to assess:
    1. Min width of 1920 pixels
    2. Max size 10MB
    3. Format JPEG, PNG
  6. Photographs must be free of any borders, watermarks or signatures and must not be digitally manipulated.
  7. Normal balancing and toning of a digital image is allowed.
  8. Images may be cropped before submission.
  9. Other digital alterations or manipulations to images are not permitted.
  10. Participants may be contacted and kindly requested to provide the raw files of their entries.

Film Category

  1. Participants can submit a maximum of 1 film per category.
  2. All Entries must be submitted as a digital file of sufficient size and resolution for the Judges to assess.
    1. Min width of 720 pixels
    2. 16:9 aspect ratio
    3. Max size 300MB
    4. Format MP4
  3. Films must be free of any borders, watermarks or signatures and must not be digitally manipulated
  4. Normal balancing and toning of a digital footage is allowed.
  5. Normal editing of timeline of films is allowed.
  6. Films may be cropped before submission.
  7. Other digital alterations or manipulations to films are not permitted.
  8. Films must not contain unlicensed music. Participants who submit films containing unlicensed music may be asked to alter their Entry or it may be disqualified.
  9. Participants must have permission from those appearing in their film submission. Participants may be asked to provide a model release form in order to confirm they have permission from those appearing in their entry.
  10. Films submitted to the Abu Dhabi: 24 hours in 24 seconds category must not focus clearly on people’s faces.
  11. Films submitted to the Abu Dhabi: 24 hours in 24 seconds category must not include “characters” or “scripts”.
  12. Films submitted to the Abu Dhabi: 24 hours in 24 seconds category must be an exact length of 24 seconds. Participants who submit films into this category which are longer or shorter than 24 seconds may be asked to alter their Entry or it may be disqualified.
  13. Films submitted to the People of Abu Dhabi category must be a maximum length of 60 seconds. Participants who submit films into this category which are longer than 60 seconds may be asked to alter their Entry or it may be disqualified.
  14. Participants may be contacted and kindly requested to provide the raw files and original frames of their entries.

Student Art category

  1. The Student Art category is exclusive for students studying at Universities and Schools inside or outside the UAE.
  2. Participants must be over the age of 16 to enter. Participants attempting to enter under the age of 16 will be disqualified.
  3. Shortlisted entries may be invited to the awards ceremony in Abu Dhabi and can bring their entry with them if they would like to see their work exhibited. Participants bringing their entry to Abu Dhabi do so at their own risk, responsibility and cost. Transporting the entry to Abu Dhabi, through customs and returning it back to it outbound destination is the sole responsibility of the Participant.
